    As a child I remember going to the Baltimore aquarium and using the paddle boats in the harbor. I was in PG county then moved to Annapolis. I always wish the water was cleaner. The Chesapeake Bay was getting very unclean. I live in Florida now. I love animals and plants and water. I always wondered if there was a way to make the water clear in these man-made retainment ponds that are everywhere in Florida. Imagine how beautiful the world could be if we truely all behaved as steward of the earth instead of only consumers and destroyers

    Build a new part of the National Aquarium! It can have an antarctic penguinarium and a stadium for orcas! And even an exhibit connected to the stadium where after the orcas are in their exhibit to the public separated by a large gate, the gate to the other exhibit for Sea Lions can open and they can show off the Sea Lions being fed and doing tricks just like the orcas!

    Very awesome, just concerned, does the plastic mat break down and pollute the water?

    • @nationalaquarium
      @nationalaquarium 2 месяца назад

      Traditionally, floating wetlands can be made with either PET (Polyethylene terephthalate) or organic materials (mainly coconut fiber). In the end, we intentionally decided on PET due to its durability and higher ecological benefit. Here are the facts about PET: - PET (Polyethylene terephthalate) a post-consumer recycled plastic matrix EPA-approved polyester is used in drinking water bottles that do not use BPA (Bisphenol - a chemical produced for various plastic products). PET is a carefully engineered design ideal for rapid growth of beneficial sticky biofilms, which attract microbes (bacteria) to remove contaminants (e.g., phosphorus and nitrogen). It does not break down in water (like organic materials do-which is what opposing floating wetlands tend to be made of) and provides a flexible structure that is easy to anchor and absorbs wave energy.

    I have never seen a better aquarium than we have at the Inner harbor. The exhibits and staff are truly exceptional! There are many educational gems worth seeing in the harbor area. Baltimore deserves better than it's current incompetent and corrupt leadership, destroying a once fine city. Here's hoping by a much needed needed regime change, it may yet rebound.

    Went to the aquarium with my class last week. I have an unconscious habit of looking for her every time I visit. The Blacktip reef seemed so empty without her gliding through the water. I told my class about her and will show them this video. It is a lovely tribute to her and the lives she touched.

I apologize if this isn't the right place to ask but, I remember an old commercial (Circa 2004-ish I believe?) for the national aquarium that had a toy diver looking for the Ocean and deciding to come to the National Aquarium but I can't find it anywhere, is there any way you guys could upload it to the YT channel?
